Both games of skill and motor sport exhibit many of the characteristics of physical sports, such as skill, sportsmanship, and at the highest levels, even professional sponsorship associated with physical sports.

The breeding, training and racing of horses in many countries is now a significant economic activity as, to a greater extent, is the gambling industry which is largely supported by it. Exceptional horses can win millions of dollars and might make millions more by providing stud services, such as horse breeding.

Horse racing is an equestrian sport that has been practiced over the centuries; the chariot races of Roman times are an early example, as is the contest of the steeds of the god Odin and the giant Hrungnir in Norse mythology. It is often inextricably associated with gambling. The common sobriquet for Thoroughbred horse racing is The Sport of Kings.

As auto racing is a dangerous sport, many individuals (including drivers, crew members, officials and spectators) have been killed in crashes related to the sport, either in a race, in qualifying, in practice or a private testing session.

A blooper usually describes a short sequence of a film or video production which contains a mistake made by a member of the cast or crew. These bloopers, or outtakes as they are also called, are often the subject of television shows or are occasionally revealed during the credit sequence at the end of comedy movies. Humorous mistakes made by athletes are often referred to as bloopers as well, particularly in baseball.

Sports injuries are injuries that are caused by participation in a sporting event. In many cases, these types of injuries are due to overuse of a part of the body when participating in a certain activity. For example, runner's knee is a painful condition generally associated with running, while tennis elbow is a form a repetitive stress injury at the elbow, although it does often occur with tennis players. Other types of injuries can be caused by a hard contact with something. This can often cause a broken bone or torn ligament or tendon.

When Ronnie Belliard made an outstanding play to end the inning, they said that it was one of the best plays they had ever seen in baseball. In fact, they even said that they know it's an overused statement -- but they're sticking with it. When I got home, I decided to check it out myself. Now, you can be the judge... Check out Ronnie Belliard's No Look Flip to end the inning. You'd have to agree, right? That's on the highlight reel for at least a few decades...

I'll bet that ice fall hurt like hell physically and mentally, she probably felt embarrassed and that she'd let down her partner. I'd say playing on with a broken leg is worse but I wouldn't knock skating injuries. Plus, there is a natural (if sexist) assumption that a big bad quarterback can take a lot more damage than a petite little skater.

Some people get all bummed out over the fights, but I love 'em. Maybe I'm making do with the NHL and MLB until televised executions and deathmatches come along, but that's my own problem. The evils of fighting are over-rated. Fights are cathartic. They are high drama. Fights lower the incidence of more dangerous sports stuff, like beanballs and high sticking. Fights teach kids valuable lessons concerning the consequence of their actions. They also....well, OK, I'm depraved.
